ICL aims to be an engine for growth in the communities in which it operates. In addition, the core of ICL’s social vision is based on community initiatives in which its employees collaborate with residents and local organizations. ICL prefers to target its specific activities based on input from the communities.
ICL works to be a positive force, by donating funds to various initiatives, as well as contributing manpower in the form of volunteerism or mentoring activities. Both the communities and the Company reap the rewards of ICL’s and its employees’ involvement, which demonstrates social accountability and a shared sense of responsibility for the communities in which it operates.
By empowering entrepreneurship, innovation and excellence, as well as utilizing our products, resources and expertise, we enable shared value and sustainable partnerships that establish networks of social good.
Quantitative details of ICL’s community investments and donations appear in the table below. There was a significant increase (27%) in monetary donations, thanks to ICL’s broad contribution to Covid-19 related needs, while in monetary equivalent donations there was a decrease – mainly due to Covid-19 restrictions that limited employees participation in volunteer hours. Thus, the total amount of donations (Monetary+equivalent) increased by 13%. ICL contributed, at the Company’s expense, about 9,650 hours of volunteer work of its employees. This amount does not include 9,120 hours of volunteer work after working hours, which was encouraged, organized, and logistically facilitated by ICL.

In 2020, ICL welcomed nearly 7,400 visitors to its sites worldwide, as part of its public engagement programs. Visitors receive first-hand exposure to ICL’s production processes, and were introduced to environmental and safety practices implemented by ICL at all its sites.
2020 was a unique year due to Covid-19. On March 15, a closure was announced in Israel and the entry of visitors to factories was prohibited and shortly thereafter, closures were also announced in other countries and visitors were not allowed to enter any ICL sites around the world.
ICL’s Global Social Responsibility Committee is responsible for ICL’s community activities by connecting employees to various activities and broadening employee involvement.
An important aspect of the committee’s activity is to ensure that each region’s activities are tailored to the needs of that region. To that end, representatives of the committee work to identify regional needs of social responsibility and the community. The committee is headed by ICL’s EVP of Global HR who oversees ICL’s global community engagement.
